Solution for Stopping the Gulf Oil Spill – Part 1: How To Slow The BP Oil Slick

Part 1 – This solution for stopping the Gulf oil spill is a plan for how to slow the BP oil slick growth & keep it off the shores of the Gulf Coast States. The BP oil spill & resulting oil slick comes from 3 underwater leaks that occurred after the Transocean disaster when the Deepwater Horizon oil rig exploded & sank on April 20 killing 11 workers. Currently no organized plan seems to be effectively working. We need to get this plan implemented immediately to prevent even further disaster from this ecological catastrophe. Please help to get the word out! Every minute counts!

    @theOSBOURNES no …
    @theOSBOURNES no more boom then the already deployed 3 million feet or 568 miles already deployed. It just needs to be both higher and lower in relation to the sea surface to be effective. Great idea John! BTW boats used to hold it place would be far, far less then amount of boats used now to clean it up.

  2. bigpappageorgio says:

    Look, the boom …
    Look, the boom should probably be about 4 foot above the water and 6 feet below to be effective in the ocean. I don’t care it the circles are 20 miles around this is good idea. Yes it is doable. K. Costners oil machines should be retro fitted on the back of a oil collecting skimmer and the remaining water should be passed through a the “Smart Sponge” technology used as filter in this case, to catch the remaining 3% not filtered. It’s a great idea! Screw the dispersant, that’s BS

    @paintzongo I too …
    @paintzongo I too thought this would work. The sea floor is not a strong as the locations the Russians used nuclear. I have spoken to some prominent geologists and they do not think nuclear detonations in this situation are viable. The risk is too great, the risk of fracturing the floor and releasing all the oil.

    @justonemorename We …
    @justonemorename We all need to call our representative of government, Congressman in Louisiana, your own congressmen and get a lift on the Jones Act. We need all the help we can get. Any other nation that can come skim oil and help us should be paid for their operating efforts.

    We like your animation and surface collection concept, could you give your feedback on our concept and animation as well?

  12. paintzongo says:

    How about we do …
    How about we do what the Russians already did 6 times in the past when this happened to them. Detonate the leak with a small nuclear bomb. Takes care of the leak, cause there is no oil well left to deal with. so then we can clean up this mess and move on.

  13. PlayT0E says:

    That sounds like a …
    That sounds like a fine method of boom collection of surface oil …
    Too bad it is not being done.

    (Why bother cleaning up when they can just pollute for free??)

    there is a lot of …
    there is a lot of merit to this idea – maybe if used in conjunction with the S.Q.U.I.D., it wouldn’t leak/overflow as much as predicted. What do you think? search squiddevice.mov on youtube for details about the S.Q.U.I.D.

    Why skim, CONVERT the oil by combining it with something that sinks or consumes it like bacteria?

    this would be fun …
    this would be fun during the hurricane season. BP doesnt care about any of this. They think it’s funny. Thats why they have a funny little clown as a ceo.

  19. markb2323uc says:

    The current LMRP …
    The current LMRP Cap is not working. Two thirds of the oil is still escaping into the Gulf. The sooner we recognize the failure the sooner we can move on to a better solution. There should be dozens of LMRP Cap designs in process with the best designs being candidates for consideration as a replacement. I can’t understand why we are waiting. If BP had a solution they would have the well sealed by now. youtube.com/watch?v=FFUGv0iffe0

    @tanist2
    The …

    @tanist2
    The method used in the Persian Gulf in 1991 captured 85% of the oil, using supertankers with suction pumps. for some reason, BP doesn’t want to expose this idea, and the white house doesn’t either. this would suck up most of the oil that leaks to the surface, and keep it from hitting the coastline. Time is of the essence however.

  24. xvirg says:

    Too late, out of …
    Too late, out of control. But wait, mother nature has provided us with the perfect solution to gather the oil. Pelicans, that’s right, pelicans have a natural ability to dive right into oil contaminated waters and collect about 1/2 gallon of oil on their feathers. Doing the math (estimates vary) let’s say 300 million gal. of oil are loose in the gulf. We haul roughly 600M pelicans into the area and release them, later dozing their dead carcasses up on the shore to burn for bio-energy.

  25. littlemisspissy says:

    Build a 500,000 …
    Build a 500,000 gallon bladder made of kevlar interwoven with high-tensile wire mesh with inlet and outlet ports — one attached around the wellhead, and one or more at the other end for flexible siphoning hoses to the surface. The bladder is twice the size it needs to be to contain the oil coming out of the earth each day and expand to some extent if the rate increases.

    Have spare bladders on hand for replacements as necessary.

    Done deal.
