How can I stop a Hotpoint oven timer/buzzer from buzzing?

I have an older Hotpoint oven/stove/range. I don’t know the model, but it might be from the 70s, 80s, or 90s. It has what I believe to be a mechanical timer, where you turn the knob, but now even if I manage to turn the knob to turn it off, it only starts buzzing again a few moments later. I did try setting the timer for an hour so it would only go off every hour, but now that doesn’t work either. Any insight on where to find info on how to stop this nuisance?
As I said, even if I turn it off, it starts buzzing again in moments.

If your oven is working ok, you can just gain access to the ERC and clip the wire going to the buzzer. some have a wire connector that you can just remove and tape off.
(turn the power to the stove off before doing this though, so you dont fry yourself)

either push the knob in or pull it out slightly to turn it off
